Go on an adventure this Easter at Hedingham Castle – fairies, dragons & medieval jousts!

Looking for an unforgettable family day out this Easter? Hedingham Castle in Essex has lined up a magical programme of events, inviting visitors to step into a world of history, adventure, and enchantment. From Sunday 6th April to Monday 21st April, the castle will be alive with fairy trails, dragon puppets, medieval jousts, and plenty of springtime magic for all ages to enjoy.

Easter Holiday Adventures (6th – 9th April)

Enchanted Egg Hunt

Little explorers can set off on a quest to uncover 15 hidden eggs scattered throughout the castle gardens. Each egg holds a piece of the Fairytale Kingdom, and those who complete the challenge will be rewarded with a delicious treat!

Woodland Fairytrail

Wander through the Valley Walk and keep an eye out for the tiny, hidden homes of ten woodland fairies tucked among the trees. This charming trail is perfect for young adventurers with big imaginations.

Spring Bulb Walks

Take a peaceful stroll through the castle grounds, where spring flowers are bursting into bloom. This is the perfect way to soak in the beauty of the season and enjoy some fresh countryside air.

Special Events to Delight All Ages

The Sand Dragon Puppet Show (6th April)

Children will love this magical puppet performance featuring Edie and her special pebble that transforms into a dragon! After the show, little ones can take part in a fun workshop to create their own Sand Dragon puppet.

(Tickets include access to the Enchanted Egg Hunt and Fairytrail.)

Birds of Prey Static Displays (8th & 9th April)

Eden Falconry will be bringing their incredible collection of birds of prey to the castle, including owls, hawks, and eagles. Get up close and learn about these majestic creatures as they perch proudly within the Norman Keep. (Included with Spring Walk tickets.)

Knights of Middle England Joust (20th & 21st April)

For the ultimate medieval experience, don’t miss the exhilarating jousting tournaments as brave knights go head-to-head in a display of skill and courage. As well as the thrilling jousts, children can:

  • Try their hand at archery
  • Experience falconry displays
  • Enrol in knight school
  • Explore the medieval encampment
  • Visit the blacksmith’s forge and more!
