Now in its biggest year yet, the Brentwood Art Trail will showcase the work of 84 artists and creative groups across 66 different locations, spanning the charming streets of Brentwood, Shenfield, and Ingatestone. This year’s event promises to be bigger, brighter, and more vibrant than ever, inviting visitors to explore the area while discovering beautiful art, attending engaging workshops, and supporting local businesses.
A Month-Long Celebration of Art
The event kicks off on Saturday, 31 May, with a fun-filled launch day in Brentwood. This will include a Guided Tour hosted by artist Lucia Hardy, a well-known name in the local art scene. Lucia will also lead a plein air art event outside Tom Howley Kitchens, where artists can showcase their skills live for visitors. There will be plenty of opportunities for the public to get hands-on with art, with free Chalk Drawing sessions in Crown Street, alongside live art from talented artists Amelia Hart and Jill Busby, who will be painting large boards at The Pink Parachute and the Chapel Ruins.

For anyone wanting to add their touch to a community artwork, Mike Young returns with his famous Scribble Board Art Jam, inviting everyone to get involved and make their mark throughout the afternoon.
Following the launch, Shenfield will host its own special event on Saturday, 7 June. Artist Dani Davison will lead a Guided Tour through the area, while John Ball and Lucia Hardy will paint live outside Shenfield Library. As a special treat, Mike Young will be joined by doodle artist Heidi Simm for another fun-filled Scribble Board Art Jam outside the Shenfield Wine Company.
The final event takes place in Ingatestone on Saturday, 14 June, where Nicola Osborne will host the last Guided Tour. Following the tour, Nicola will create a painting inspired by the history and people of Ingatestone, taking inspiration from Philippa Threlfall’s mosaic in Market Place. Each event is free to enjoy, and all are welcome to participate in the activities and take in the art on display.
New Creative Events and Workshops
In addition to the trail itself, the month will feature a variety of exciting workshops and events that will allow visitors to engage with the arts and discover new talents. These will include artist talks, arts and craft workshops hosted by Crafting From Scratch, Curly Cloud Art, and Wee Bothy Art. The Brentwood Theatre will also be showing an art-related film, and there will be Walk, Talk and Create events hosted by Create Yourself Calm.
One of the highlights will be the Portrait Artist Paint-Along on Saturday, 21 June, at 7 Crown Street, where Lucia Hardy and Nancy Walker will guide participants through the process of creating their own portrait artwork.
New to the event this year are several exciting venues across Brentwood, including 7 Crown Street, Brentwood School, Caffé Piccolo, and The Woofer Café. These local businesses have generously opened their spaces to showcase artists’ work, with some offering additional creative workshops and events to coincide with the trail.
Community Engagement and Support
For the second year in a row, Mullis & Peake Solicitors in Shenfield will be participating in the event, showcasing the artwork of Martin Bardram in their office. Marketing Manager Jo Briton says, “We’re proud to support the Brentwood Art Trail as it’s a fantastic way to showcase the incredible talent of local artists while helping to boost foot traffic and support businesses in the area.”
The event culminates in a Creative Community Showcase on the final weekend, which will take place outside the Pop-Up Gallery in The Baytree Shopping Centre. Here, local arts, culture, and heritage groups will have the chance to engage with the public and share information about their activities. The showcase will also feature performances by local musicians and an art market, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. These events will mark the beginning of the Brentwood Arts Festival, organised by the Brentwood Arts Council.

Supporting Local Art and Business
The Brentwood Art Trail is not only a celebration of art but also a testament to the power of community collaboration. Brentwood Connected is proud to support this initiative, with the involvement of local businesses playing a crucial role in making the event possible. Villene Hyam, Social Media & Marketing Manager for Brentwood Connected, shares, “The Art Trail brings together people from all walks of life. It’s a wonderful way for the community to connect, support local businesses, and enjoy a month of vibrant, creative events.”
